Lend a hand with ice storm cleanup in Willamalane parks!
The historic storm event caused significant damage to our parks and volunteer help is greatly needed. Volunteers will cleanup paths, move and pile debris to chipping staging areas and more. This will also support the ability of our parks staff to focus on technical tasks.
Volunteers should be comfortable with a moderate activity level of movement, inclement weather, bending, lifting, and walking on uneven or slippery terrain. Come wearing sturdy closed toe shoes and clothing that can get dirty (long pants and long sleeve shirts are recommended). Be sure to dress for the weather and anticipate cool and potentially wet weather (layers, waterproof boots, waterproof jacket etc.). The event will run rain or shine, so come prepared for the forecasted weather conditions.
Gloves and hand tools will be provided. Volunteers are also welcome to bring their own work/gardening gloves and hand tools like rakes, clippers or loppers. More details about any tools needed will be provided in the information email. Volunteers are not permitted to use power tools.
To sign up, "respond" to shift(s) listed below you plan to attend. The park location will be announced a few days prior to the volunteer shift, so be sure to keep an eye on your email for an important volunteer information message. This is to ensure volunteer help is directed to locations where it is needed the most. We appreciate your interest and commitment to helping Willamalane parks to be safe and accessible for the community.
